- Given a sample scenario, learners will analyze and discuss how personal prior successes influenced an individual’s belief in his or her ability to achieve goals.
Goal #4: Learners will evaluate their own prior experiences for evidence of their capability to achieve or succeed.
Learning Outcomes:
- Using a personal example of prior success, learners will choose at least two personal characteristics that they believe would help them have similar success in the future.
- Using a personal example of prior success, learners will explain to a peer why this experience supports their belief in personal future success.
Goal #5: Learners will create a personal affirmative story for the future.
Learning Outcomes:
- When asked to envision an ideal future state, learners will prioritize at least five conditions that would be met in the ideal state.
- Given the context of a future point in time, learners will write a description of their ideal future state incorporating their top three success conditions.
- Learners will create an affirmative story which will be shared with a peer, including descriptive details about the environment and activities they would be pursuing in their ideal future state.
- Working with a partner, learners will develop a strategy for purposefully using their affirmative story on a daily basis.
Goal #6: Learners will use their affirmative story to build or maintain confidence prior to engaging in a new or unknown situation.
Learning Outcomes:
- After selecting an upcoming situation that entails unfamiliar elements, learners will formulate a plan for using their affirmative story in preparing for the event.
- Following the event, learners will evaluate how the outcome was impacted as a result of their affirmative story and will share the outcome with a peer.
