Application Cards
Learners will use Application Cards to demonstrate accomplishment of several learning outcomes. These include determining how their confidence level was influenced by self-talk, choosing personal characteristics that would lead to future success, and prioritizing five conditions of their ideal future.
|
Influenced by self-talk
Ask learners to think about a time that their self-talk influenced their actions or decisions. Allow 3-4 minutes for them to write down their thoughts in their participant guides, followed by another 3-4 minutes to discuss in their triads. Some questions to consider:
- What was the situation you were thinking about?
- What was the impact of your self-talk?
- Why did your self-talk have the effect it did?
Personal characteristics for success
Ask learners to think about an experience where they were successful at something in the past. Allow 2-3 minutes for them to write at least two personal characteristics that they exhibited in that situation, which would help them have similar success in the future. Allow 3-4 minutes for learners to discuss their choices within their triads, and also why those characteristics support personal beliefs in their ability to succeed in the future.
Prioritize five conditions of ideal future
Ask learners to envision their ideal future state, at least five years in the future. Using their participant guides, learners prioritize at least five conditions that would be met in their ideal future state. For example:
- I spend quality time each day with people that I care about.
- I am living a healthy lifestyle, making nutritious food choices and exercising daily.
- My work is satisfying and improves the lives of others.
- I find ways to use my creativity daily.
- My finances are in order.
